Back when I did 4-H projects, there was a clothing category called "Purchase" where the project involved, well, just that. You bought something and did a poster about how it fit in with your current wardrobe. This is a great skill to have, but the whole concept of shopping as 4-H project became a wonderful joke for my mom and me. (Side note: We're the cheapest laughs in the entire world. Put us in the greeting card aisle at the grocery store and you'll soon find us with tears rolling down our cheeks, gasping for breath because the cards are just THAT funny.) Seeing as how the sleeves of the Tilted Duster are the plainest sleeves known to sweaterdom (2x2 rib cuff, increase a bit, shape cap), I thought I'd show you something I bought instead. Meet Pete's new shoes.
They're from Kaya's Kloset, Johanna's etsy shop. I have that same fabric to make pajama pants for the boys, so I couldn't help but buy them. They are super cute, breathable for this brutish summer weather and impossible to remove. Oddly enough, even in tropical Houston, Pete gets chilly feet and loves to remove his socks. He's now met his match. He tried pulling.
He tried chewing.
They did not come off. Seeing as how he's not going to be walking outside and in need of leather soles for quite some time, I think I've found the perfect shoe for us. I'd try to make some, but I'm pretty sure they fall into the category of fiddly sewing and heck, I'm not even sure where all the parts are to my sewing machine at the moment. So thanks, Johanna, for making the most adorable shoes for me to buy.
Coming soon -- Tilted enters the dreaded slog zone. So much for those quick cardigan fronts...
