New sweater day!
Two new sweaters on a beautiful cool fall day!

Pattern: Big Digger from Handknits for Kids
Yarn: Cotton Glace
Best part: The adorable factor
Worst part: Cotton intarsia, anyone?
John loves his new sweater. I'm going to let him wear it and get it dirty, since what's the point otherwise?

Pattern: Mommy Snug -- Summer 2006 IK
Yarn: Rowanspun DK
Best part: Button plackets -- they totally make the sweater
Worst part: The yarn is loosely spun so it might not wear as well as I'd like.
Modifications: I added 30 rows to the sleeves. My sleeves are always too short on ready to wear and I might have erred a little on the long side, but it's a nice change. Also, if anyone's planning to knit this, the pattern on the front and back calls for four sets of cable crossings, but it should be five to match the picture (last cable crossing on row 20). The sleeve pattern has the right number of cable crossings, but since I'd already done four on the body, I made mine match. I really doubt anyone is ever going to notice.
I am in crazy love with this sweater. It's the perfect DK weight for Houston. Since I did the two sets of short rows, it sort of folds on itself when I sit. I think I'll grow into it. :)
ETA: A nice, standing shot showing the uncrinkled belly.

beautiful sweaters!
i just saw the Yarn Harlot wednesday night and she was curing Debbie Bliss for cotton intarsia. She had counted 288 ends to weave in at the end of the sweater!

I wont do intarsia in wool, I cannot imagine how henious it would be in cotton! But John sweater is uber cute!
You look spectacular in yours too! The orange is lovely and it makes you glow!

Awesome! I love both of them! John looks so sweet, and you seem so serenely happy and pregnant. What a change from a few weeks ago. You have been so blessed.
I hated doing the intarsia in cotton glace, btw. Nasty. And I ended up having to rework the neckband, because it was too wide and gapey. Now it has a few rounds of 2x2 ribbing and a roll treatment at the edge. Yours looks like it came out a lot better than my first try!

I love your Mommy Snug. I am making one too, mine was the red one posted on Knitty Bloggy Bumpers. It is on the back burner now as I am not pregnant anymore. How do you manage to knit things so fast?

Both sweaters are amazing, I love them both. The sweater looks great on you, I especially love the color.
And John is so cute in his sweater, James would love that! He's getting so big, he's really starting to look like a little boy now and not a baby.

Brynne,
You look fantastic and John, my favorite godson, is absolutely adorable. Hopefully the coming months hold smooth-sailing for you, John and Christian. Much love, B

Whether you are feeling good with the pregnancy or not, it sure looks good on you! And your Snug looks great--what a fantastic color.
I discovered that book--Handknits for Kids--at my library a month ago and loved it so much that I bought it. The designs are adorabible! Why, or why does intarsia have to be so irritating? You have inspired me to work through the pain and get my daughter's Happy Hen sweater done already!

Both sweaters are great! Way to go knitting Mommy Snug while you can actually wear it! I bought "Knitting For Two" years ago planning to make something for my someday pregnancy, but never did, I did make a cardigan with a two way zipper though, so all intent was not lost.
Both of you (all three really) enjoy your sweaters!
